EXTRAORDINARY----Month-1---Blog-Banner.jpg

I’m Jacob Lawson, the proud owner of EXTRAORDINARY FLOORING LLC.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

I worked on an oilfield carrier, and while carrying out my offshore duties, I alternated between a 14-day on 7-day off or a 21-day on 7-day off schedule.

During my time off, I wanted to stay busy, so I worked for my neighbor Jeremy Leblanc, the proprietor of JL’S Flooring. Jeremy was one of the hardest-working guys I had met and was more like my big brother than a boss. However, I made sure to work hard to succeed.

In my personal life, I had my first child on the way, so I decided to buy a new home for my family, which depleted my savings. While I needed money fast, I was not going to attempt to force Jeremy’s hand for more cash as he had already done so much for me. So I decided to fly solo in October 2002.

Memorable Milestone

Fast forward twenty years, and I’m still going strong. Considering that fifty percent of companies go out of business within two years and another thirty percent go bankrupt within five years, completing this milestone gives me a great sense of accomplishment.

With that said, there were many twists and tales along the way, which I call My Home Depot card and prayer moments. I started with just one helper, increased to two, and was up to five by the end of the first year. Within two years, I had seven, and I currently have a team of nineteen enthusiastic employees.

The growth was fueled by pivoting towards new trends. For example, I started as a tile and wood flooring installer and quickly became interested in the decorative concrete world, where I started dabbling in acid staining and stamped concrete. Eventually, I moved into epoxy coatings and polished concrete.

Until last year I ran the gauntlet of flooring applications ranging from tile and hardwoods to epoxy and polished concrete for residential and commercial projects. However, as of this year, I’m currently taking on commercial and industrial polished concrete and epoxy coating applications. It’s where I feel my company excels.

Core Values

I work with integrity, and what sets me apart is that I never walk away from a project without giving the client what they paid for, as being reliable is part of my DNA. My other core values include Dependability, Accountability, Durability, and always using my best effort to make it Extraordinary!

I also attribute my success to my “Work Ethic and Determination.” My grandfather instilled these two words in me, and these traits have pulled me through the most challenging times. I’ve also been blessed to have a great team over the past two decades.

They have helped my company to earn a reputation for doing what others refuse to do, which fills me with joy. I also maintain a MAKE IT HAPPEN (MIH) philosophy that has created trusted business partners and provides exciting opportunities for my team.

For example, this year, we completed projects on the Superdome and the Horseshoe casino, which have been on my bucket list for years. Growing up in the Westbank of New Orleans, the Superdome has always been the city’s most prominent landmark, and as soon as I got into the epoxy industry, I wanted to do Stadiums. With the Superdome now getting renovated, I got my opportunity.

Fishing and Working out

When not installing flooring, I enjoy working out, spending time with family and friends, and fishing with my dad. I also support St Jude Children’s Hospital and our country’s Veterans, two causes close to my heart.

My oldest daughter Breah was born with Amniotic Band Syndrome, which amputated four of her fingers at birth. While receiving treatment we couldn’t afford, we witnessed misfortune children suffering from much more significant difficulties. Saint Jude affords treatments free of charge to families in need.

My other forever charity will be the veterans of our great military. They have put their lives on the line for this great country, and after their time of service, they require our support.

I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things that matter to me and how they influence my business.

If you or someone you know could benefit from my expertise as a Floor Installer in Harvey, Louisiana, I invite you to contact me. Please call (504) 231-6298 or email extraordinaryflooringllc@gmail.com.

Sincerely,

Jacob
